Returning to a painting that asked for more
Today I’m beginning a new project: #100Interruptions2025.
Over the next 100 days, I’ll return to the same painting again and again adding one new mark each day. A line of light. A shift in tone or temperature. A small disruption.
The painting I’ve chosen hasn’t been touched in nearly two years. When I first made it, something felt unresolved. It didn’t quite work, but I didn’t know what it needed. So I left it. Let it rest.
Now, instead of starting over, I’m choosing to stay with it. To listen to what might still be waiting inside it. Each day, I’ll interrupt the painting with a new gesture. A way to change it, yes but also a way to spend time with it. To explore what happens when I don’t rush to finish, when I resist moving on.
This project is about the quiet process of revisiting. Of finding new life in old work. Of letting the painting evolve slowly over time.
I’ll share a photo of each daily change in my Instagram stories, and every 10 days I’ll post a reel to gather those changes together.
This isn’t about perfection. It’s about process. Attention. Stillness.
Let’s see what grows in the space between interruptions.
