FAQs
About the Artwork
What inspires your work?
My work is inspired by coastlines, horizon lines, shifting weather and the emotional connection we have with place and memory - especially the landscapes of Scotland and Orkney. I'm interested in atmosphere, colour, texture and the feeling of being somewhere rather than creating a literal representation.
Are your paintings original?
Yes - all original paintings are one-off pieces created by me in my studio.
What materials do you use?
I work primarily with acrylic paint to create layered textures. I also work with oil, watercolours and mixed media. Texture, surface and subtle colour shifts are an important part of the finished works.
Do you sell prints?
Not currently - at the moment I focus on creating original paintings. However, I'm considering offering selected works as fine art prints in the future. If this is something you'd be interested in, please get in touch or join my mailing list for updates.
Choosing Artwork
How do I choose the right artwork size for my space?
A good way to choose artwork is to think about the feeling you want the space to have. Larger pieces can create a calm focal point, while smaller works work beautifully layered on shelves or walls. I recommend measuring your wall space and using masking tape or newspaper to visualise the size before purchasing.
Can I see how a painting might look in my home?
Yes - if you send me a photograph of your space, I may be able to provide a simple digital mock-up to help you visualise the artwork in your room.
Do you work with interior designers?
Yes - I'm very happy to work with interior designers, stylists and hospitality projects to source artwork for residential or commercial spaces.
Is artwork a good gift?
Absolutely. Artwork can make a meaningful and lasting gift for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, new homes or special occasions.
Do you offer gift vouchers?
Yes - gift vouchers are available if you'd like to let someone choose their own piece. If this is something you are interested in, please get in touch.
Buying Artwork
How do I purchase artwork?
Artwork can be purchased directly through my website shop. Simply add the piece to your basket and follow the checkout process.
Can I reserve an artwork?
Possibly - if you've fallen in love with a piece, please get in touch and I'll do my best to help.
Do you offer payment plans?
Payment plans may be available for larger original works. Please contact me directly to discuss options.
Will the colours look exactly the same in real life?
I do my best to photograph artwork accurately in natural light, but colours may vary slightly depending on your screen settings.
Shipping & Delivery
Do you ship internationally?
Not at this time - I only ship artwork within the UK.
How long will my order take to arrive?
Original artworks are usually dispatched within 5-7 working days, although larger works may take slightly longer depending on size or framing.
How is artwork packaged?
All artwork is carefully packed using protective materials to ensure it arrives safely and securely.
Will I receive tracking information?
Yes - tracking details will be emailed once your order has been dispatched.
Originals & Framing
Are original paintings framed?
Some originals works are sold framed and ready to hang, while others are sold unframed. Details will always be included on the artwork listing.
Can I request a different size artwork?
Sometimes. If you're looking for a particular size or colour palette, feel free to get in touch to discuss commissions or upcoming work.
Commissions
Do you take commissions?
Yes - I take on a limited number of commissions throughout the year.
Can you paint a special place or landscape?
Absolutely. Many commissions are inspired by meaningful places, coastlines, memories or favourite views.
How does the commissioning process work?
We'll begin with a conversation about the size, colours, mood and location you have in mind. I'll then create a piece inspired by your ideas while staying true to my style and process.
How long does a commission take?
This depends on the scale and complexity of the pieces, but commissions typically take between 8-10 weeks (including drying time, varnishing and framing).
Do you require a deposit?
Yes - a deposit is usually required before work begins, with the remaining balance due on completion.
Returns & Damages
What if my artwork arrives damaged?
Please contact me as soon as possible with photographs of the packaging and artwork so I can resolve the issue.
Do you accept returns?
I hope you love your artwork, but if you have concerns about your order, please contact me within 7 days of delivery.
